This year, as part of cooperation between the Municipal Police Headquarters and Karkonosze National Park, children from care and education facilities in Jelenia Góra, together with their carers, were invited to take part in the Picnic and a specially planned educational, preventive and nature-focused trip to Chojnik Castle.
For the first time, the children and their carers took part in an innovative educational, nature-focused and preventive trip to Chojnik, led by KPN staff and Jelenia Góra police officers. The trip included educational elements concerning risks and ways of avoiding them, including mountain safety rules. At the same time, the children had an unusual opportunity to talk to Park employees about the nature-related topics that interested them greatly.
During the hike, the children were also treated to many nature-related and educational attractions. These included ecological competitions, art workshops and exhibitions. There were also sports challenges—the children and adults could test their fitness and compete with one another in a friendly atmosphere, for example during a tug-of-war.
As a farewell, the children received, among other things, dwarf mountain pine seedlings they had prepared themselves, which they could take home.
