Of course, when it comes to public-use buildings characterized by very large spans, safety is all the more important—a fact understood by the engineers and designers involved in their construction. Every element included in the design matters here, just as does the choice of materials from which a given structure will be built.
At present, there is no better solution than glulam structures, which stand out for their highest quality and, consequently, longevity. The many advantages of these structures meet the expectations of construction professionals, who can, after all, choose among other options, such as concrete, reinforced concrete or steel. Why do they opt for glulam? Above all, because of the significant responsibility mentioned earlier, which proves to be a priority in such investments, as well as the many other advantages of these structures, which have long been confirmed and proven not only in Poland but throughout the world.
Strength, stability and longevity
Thanks to the professional processing of glued laminated timber, which consists of many necessary stages, the final structure is created—one that, colloquially speaking, outperforms the others. Glulam can be shaped however we wish, so it should come as no surprise that today’s public buildings are visually impressive. Its very important advantage is its lightness, which means that the structure does not exert excessive force on foundations, walls or columns, and it can be used regardless of the ground’s hardness. The structure is highly resistant to many adverse factors, such as fire, moisture and chemicals. We therefore do not have to fear that after several years it will require renovation or replacement of elements due to mould or other changes. In the event of a fire, it may char on the outside without burning through. Its stability and rigidity are also worthy of praise, ensuring the building remains in excellent condition regardless of strong winds, vibrations and similar factors. In addition, it is soundproof, provides insulation, is environmentally friendly and cheaper than other options.
Progress and technology
Over the years, technological capabilities have made it possible for structures of small, medium-sized and large buildings to take various shapes while, above all, remaining safe and durable enough to last for many years without deterioration. Moreover, when such a structure is highly safe, naturally friendly to people and the environment, and cheaper, there is no reason to choose alternatives that are the opposite of the advantages offered by glulam structures.
