On September 10, following the final acceptance procedures, the calisthenics park was handed over to users. It was built on the training courts in Municipal Park, next to the outdoor gym constructed earlier.

– Calisthenics is a sport for everyone – says Adrian Zając, the project’s leader and originator. – It is a form of physical activity based on classic movements that engage numerous muscle groups. These include exercises such as pull-ups, muscle-ups, push-ups, squats and similar exercises – adds Mr Adrian, who actively practices the sport himself.

All the exercise equipment was installed on a soft synthetic surface. Last year, a similar facility was handed over to the residents of Legnica in Bielański Park (funded from the city budget). It is very popular.

Our interviewee stresses that, by completing the calisthenics park as part of the LCB, Legnica has joined the group of cities that promote and popularize outdoor sports.

– This facility is not a classic form of an outdoor gym – he says. – Instead, it consists of structural elements that enable people to practice sports using their own body weight.

It is also worth noting that, thanks to its comprehensive nature, the facility built in Legnica is one of the few, if not the only one in Poland, constructed in this form. The 300 m² area includes both structural elements for calisthenics exercises and equipment for the increasingly popular pole sport, gymnastic parallel bars, gymnastic rings and boxes for box jumping. The tartan surface makes it possible to perform various forms of push-ups, sit-ups and rolls in the open area. Legnica has enriched its sports infrastructure with an interesting, innovative facility which, thanks to the growing popularity of the discipline in Poland, has the potential to become a place frequently visited by young people and older adults.

– As a sport for everyone, calisthenics, with the right commitment, provides health, vitality and a beautiful, well-proportioned physique. I encourage all residents of Legnica to use the newly built facility – Adrian Zając adds with conviction.
