Until the end of September, unmetered water consumption can be reported to the municipal services department. After signing an agreement with the municipality and paying the fee for the water taken, the case will not be reported to the police. After this deadline, owners of identified unmetered connections may be fined 5,000 zlotys. The adjudicating authority may also impose an obligation to pay 1,000 zlotys for each month in which water was illegally abstracted or wastewater was illegally discharged. The case will also be reported to the police.
“For some time now, we have been carefully checking water consumption at our substations and comparing it with the declarations of property owners. This is how we detect illegal connections to the municipal network. We have decided to give, until the end of the month, those who choose to legalize their unmetered consumption a chance to do so. From October, we will conduct detailed inspections of all substations, meters and connections in every house,” informs Halina Zbroińska, acting director of the Municipal Services Department of Rudna municipality.
The municipality produces nearly 350,000 m³ of water annually.
