The joy and enthusiasm shared by those gathered on the streets of Bolesławiec and at the Stary Theatre absolutely did not reveal that many of these women had tragic stories of battling the disease behind them. Their public participation in the march was proof that cancer is not a death sentence and that it is possible to overcome the worst diagnosis.
The Amazons encourage people to undergo preventive examinations. These examinations have saved many women who were diagnosed with an early, treatable stage of cancer. All the more so because in the European Union, a woman learns about her illness every two minutes.
The Amazons also encouraged men to undergo examinations—they are less willing to contact a doctor when “nothing hurts.” The seminar at the Stary Theatre included moving personal stories, lectures and good wishes.
Bolesławiec County Head Dariusz Kwaśniewski, Deputy County Head Marian Haniszewski and full-time member of the Bolesławiec County Board Stanisław Chwojnicki officially thanked the Amazons for their important community work. As usual, Bolesławiec County also provided financial support for the Club’s initiative.
