The aim of these operations was to ensure the safety of residents of our region and tourists who planned to return from their holidays during these days. During this time, there were 5 incidents on our roads, including 1 accident. Police officers removed 4 intoxicated vehicle drivers from traffic, while a total of 220 drivers were fined for various offences.
From 28 to 30 August this year, traffic was heavy on the roads in the Jelenia Góra region. During these days, there were 4 collisions, most commonly caused by excessive speed, failure to yield the right of way and rear-end collisions.
In addition, 1 accident occurred in Jelenia Góra. The incident took place on 30 August this year, at approximately 2:50 p.m., on Krakowska Street. Preliminary findings indicate that a 59-year-old driver of a Chrysler Voyager struck a 27-year-old female cyclist at a marked pedestrian and cycle crossing. The injured woman was hospitalized. The participants in the incident were sober. Police are currently investigating the causes and circumstances of the accident.
During these days, officers stopped 4 intoxicated vehicle drivers for roadside checks, as well as two drivers who violated court-imposed driving bans; they fined 220 drivers for various traffic offences, including excessive speed, talking on a mobile phone while driving, failing to obey traffic signals and failing to comply with the obligation to wear seat belts while driving.
Police officers also seized 29 registration certificates for various defects and the lack of technical inspections.
