On Wednesday evening, enthusiasts of French culture and the French language met at Bolesławiec's most "French" venue, Piwnica Paryska. The meeting was initiated and hosted by Bogusław Nowak. Among the invited guests was Dariusz Kwasniewski, who led the discussion and was the Bolesławiec PO candidate for the Lower Silesian Voivodeship Sejmik.

The participants exchanged views on existing forms of Polish-French cooperation. They agreed that one of the best ways to interest young residents of Bolesławiec in France would be to increase the number of children and young people learning French. This could be achieved, among other ways, by introducing the teaching of a second foreign language in local lower-secondary schools. It was believed that many students would choose French.

Dariusz Kwasniewski presented examples of successfully implemented Polish-German educational projects, noting that funding for such projects could be obtained from many sources. With the active support of France enthusiasts, this experience could be used to strengthen Polish-French contacts. Information about the possibility of financing Polish-French projects through the France-Poland Foundation (France-Pologne pour l'Europe), and above all from EU aid funds, including the European Territorial Cooperation programmes for 2007–2013, was received with great interest.

The candidate for the voivodeship sejmik also outlined several priorities of the Integrated Voivodeship Programme for the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund. They make it possible to finance projects supporting the development of cultural and educational contacts with European countries.

The meeting concluded with the participants being assigned "homework". The next, already working, meeting will take place on 8 November at 6:00 p.m. Bogusław Nowak invites everyone interested.
