The performance by the BOK-MCC theater group premiered at the end of June this year and was very well received by the Bolesławiec audience. “Serenade” is based on a play by Sławomir Mrożek. It is an ostensibly banal story about longing for a better world, curiosity about the unknown and the desire to touch the forbidden fruit. It is a story about two radically different male worlds and three radically different female worlds, about the thoroughly human confusion of good and evil, about the desire for love, jealousy and seduction. The performers will be Lila Wasiel as Blond, Jolanta Koźmin as Bruna, Łucja Mielczarek as Ruda, Marek Pietraszkiewicz as Rooster and Daniel Popieliński as Fox. The set design was prepared by Waldemar Cieślak, the musical arrangement by Paweł Gnyszka, lighting by Leszek Rzepka and prompting by Edyta Sczesna.
By sketching the five characters of Mrożek’s “Serenade” boldly and with broad strokes, the creators of the performance do not try to impose an interpretation of this one-act play on the audience. They show characters, attitudes and behavior, leaving their interpretation and assessment to those who choose to meet them. They assume that beneath the crime-comedy layer lie as many meanings as there are viewers of the performance.
At the same time, we invite you to free theater workshops, which will be held from September 2 at the Cultural Integration Center at 17 Chopina Street. The workshops are addressed to you if you want to work on yourself, collaborate with other creative people, activate your voice and body, learn to use your emotions, overcome your shyness, learn text interpretation, consider an acting future, like theater and wish to develop your passion.
Classes will be held on Mondays from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. for the youngest group (ages 8–14), on Wednesdays from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. for the oldest group (over 21) and on Wednesdays from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. for the middle group (ages 15–21).
