This is not only a meeting with living history and an opportunity to admire military encampments and skirmishes involving seventeenth-century soldiers.
It is not only a fantastic laser show on Friday evening, nor only the superb music on the stage by the Old Town Bridge.
It is also an encounter with open-air theatre.
Theatre troupes from Zielona Góra, Jelenia Góra, Wrocław, Milków and the Czech city of Ostrava will come to us, by the Nysa Łużycka. We particularly recommend the performances by the last of these groups. The Czechs will arrive in Zgorzelec with two productions. Both will be extraordinary, both fairy-tale-like, and both will feature props that will leave you breathless.
The first performance is titled “Zany Family” and can be seen during a procession on the Nadnyski promenade. The second performance, titled “The Dragon”, will be presented on Saturday at 9 p.m. on the theatre meadow as part of “Jakubowy Theatre Under the Clouds”. This is a new series that we are launching this year; if it catches on, expect to see it at future Jakuby events in Zgorzelec as well.
In the meantime, we invite you—take a look at the poster and enter a reminder in your smartphones so that, at the right time, they will shake in your pockets and shout: “Hey! It’s time for theatre!”
