It contains cells and growth factors from the patient’s own blood that stimulate the skin to regenerate, helping it regain a youthful vitality. As a result, the skin becomes smoother, more elastic and visibly younger.
Technology based on platelet-rich plasma has been used with great success for more than 10 years in reconstructive surgery, orthopedics and dentistry. It is particularly useful in wound healing, bone tissue reconstruction, and the regeneration and healing of periodontal tissues.
In aesthetic medicine, platelet-rich plasma has been used since 2003 (in France, Italy and the United Kingdom). The main indications for using platelet-rich plasma are the correction or improvement of the appearance of areas such as the skin around the eyes (crow’s feet, dark circles under the eyes), cheeks, nasolabial folds, forehead, chin, décolletage and hands, as well as filling acne scars and treating male-pattern baldness.
How does it work?
Platelet-rich plasma, rich in concentrated growth factors,
- produces new collagen through activated fibroblasts
- activates angiogenesis and microcirculation processes
- protects against free radicals
- biostimulates stem cells
The procedure involves drawing the patient’s own blood using a special blood-collection set directly into tubes. The blood is then placed in a laboratory centrifuge designed for this purpose and spun at the appropriate speed for the appropriate amount of time. The platelets are separated from the other components, then concentrated and suspended in blood plasma. The appropriately prepared platelet-rich concentrate is injected into selected areas of the skin using a needle mesotherapy technique or linearly into areas around wrinkles and skin folds.
A procedure using platelet-rich plasma is considered one of the safest aesthetic medicine treatments because of its 100% biocompatibility and immunological neutrality, meaning it carries no risk of allergic reactions.
Treatments using platelet-rich plasma are available at the Paweł Remiszewski MEDAESTIC Surgery and Aesthetic Medicine Clinic, 7A Grunwaldzka Street, at the “PROVITA” Clinic.
