Pansies, strawberries, wildflowers woven into wreaths, swallows and tits are motifs featured in some of the most beautiful patterns of original Bolesławiec ceramics. At the opening, new patterns and forms were presented by Janina Bany-Kozłowska, the Works’ chief designer, honored with a silver Gloria Artis medal, and Danuta Amborska, head of the Design Department.

Throughout the festival, many attractions will be available at the Zakłady Ceramiczne stalls in the Market Square (stall no. 4) and at the Works at 11 Kościuszki Street. These include body painting with stamps and the opportunity to visit the permanent “Janina” open-air exhibition at 11 Kościuszki Street, where a ceramics fair is also held daily through Sunday, 23 August, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

President Karol Stasik invited guests to the numerous attractions prepared by employees and management during the festival. Piotr Roman praised the Works’ activities and their contribution to the Bolesławiec Ceramic Festival.

“I would like everyone, regardless of their sympathies, to unite and work together for the benefit of the Ceramic Festival,” the mayor said. “Thank you very much for your contribution to the development and enrichment of the city’s largest festival. I would also like to add that this festival is exceptional for Zakłady Ceramiczne, because we will honor the Works’ chief designer. Janina Bany-Kozłowska will become the city’s honorary citizen as the first woman,” Piotr Roman added.

Karol Stasik also announced that Zdobinki—women and men painted with peacock eyes—are an original, patented idea of Ewa Michalak-Stasiak and Danuta Amborska.

“I deny the rumors going around that our Zdobinki are some kind of competition for Gliniada,” said the president of Z.C. “Bolesławiec.” “It is our product and the essence of our work, as well as the idea of Danuta Amborska and Ewa Michalak.”

The creators spoke about the new forms and decorations. Danuta Amborska prepared a summer table with light patterns. In their decorations, the painters of Z.C. “Bolesławiec” used floral motifs.

“We were inspired by the ever-changing motifs of a wildflower meadow,” said the head of the Design Department. “Cornflowers, poppies, small flowers woven into wreaths, as well as strawberries, swallows and tits. We drew handfuls of patterns from nature. Our painters invent very complicated stamp patterns to convey the richness of nature; some have to be extremely intricate to reproduce all these floral, botanical and animal motifs,” said Danuta Amborska.

Janina Bany-Kozłowska maintains that the Works are currently capable of creating any form and any pattern according to the customer’s wishes and imagination. Employees invite everyone to buy and admire all the patterns every day during the Bolesławiec Ceramic Festival.

Those attending the official opening included Deputy County Head Marian Haniszewski, Mayor Andrzej Dutkowski, Management Board Member Stanisław Chwojnicki, Janina Piestrak-Babijczuk, City Council Chair Jarosław Kowalski, and the directors of BOK-MCC, Ewa Lijewska-Małachowska, and the Ceramics Museum, Anna Bober-Tubaj.
