For months, we have observed a systematic decrease in unemployment in our city. In January, 4,230 people were registered with the District Labour Office; in March, their number fell to 4,130, in April to 3,939, in May to 3,833, and in June to a record low of 3,585 people. Let us recall that a year ago, nearly one thousand more residents of Legnica were unemployed.

Women still constitute the majority of those seeking employment – 51.8 percent (1,845). In July, 295 unemployed people started work, while 45 began activation internships and training courses. Among those registered, 606 people were entitled to benefits.

The largest group among the unemployed consists of people with lower-secondary and primary education (28.1 percent), while the fewest unemployed people have general secondary education (9.7 percent) or higher education (12.6 percent).

In July, the unemployment rate in Legnica was 7.7 percent, in Legnica County 16.7 percent, in the voivodeship 9.4 percent, and nationwide 10.3 percent.
