Andrzej Gąska, director of the Legnica Sports and Recreation Centre, which manages the swimming pools and bathing area, has reason to be pleased. “We have not had a summer like this in a long time,” says the director. “Legnica residents are flocking to these facilities. Kormoran is the most popular.”
And it is not hard to see why. Plenty of greenery, kayaks and pedal boats, fitness equipment, a barbecue area, a slide, and, of course, warm water and a sandy beach. These are the advantages of this bathing area.
“I first came here in the early 1960s,” recalls Legnica resident Jan Marszewski, who was relaxing at Kormoran with his granddaughter Joasia. “I have a sentimental attachment to this place. It really has everything you need for a summer holiday by the water.”
The swimming pools on Stroma and Radosna streets are also popular. Here, too, crowds of Legnica residents begin arriving early in the morning. These facilities also offer numerous attractions in addition to water and sunshine.
The swimming pools and bathing area are open every day from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. A regular ticket costs 6 zł, and a reduced ticket costs 3 zł. Many holders of Large Family Cards also come here to relax. For them, admission costs 3 zł for a regular ticket and 1.50 zł for a reduced ticket.
