One of them was a resolution amending the prices and fees for transport services and eligibility for reduced-fare travel on public transport provided by Miejskie Przedsiębiorstwo Komunikacyjne w Legnicy. This means a 10-percentage-point increase—from 40% to 50%—in the travel discount for seniors and students. According to the carrier’s estimates, the changes will impose a burden of more than PLN 730,000 on the municipal budget. The discounts will apply from January 1.
Resolutions were also adopted concerning the establishment, together with Legnicki County, of a joint consumer ombudsman position; an appropriate agreement will be signed with the County Office. The Environmental Protection Programme for the city of Legnica through 2020 was also adopted, unanimously.
The councillors also adopted a resolution declaring 2016 the Legnica Year of Benjamin Bilse, as part of the celebrations of the 200th anniversary of the birth of this distinguished violinist, composer and conductor, to be held on August 17 next year.
Resolutions concerning the establishment of a family children’s home and a social welfare home, as well as their statutes, were removed from the agenda. This is related to the Sejm’s adoption of an act regulating the current operating model of these institutions.
In addition, a committee was appointed to evaluate candidates for lay judges, and a complaint concerning the activities of the director of the Municipal Social Welfare Centre in Legnica was rejected.
