The “Safe Holidays 2015” operation is, among other things, a period of increased activity by traffic officers, whose task is to ensure that travelers can move efficiently and safely. During this period, traffic police officers inspect buses and other vehicles designed to carry more than nine people even more frequently. Officers check drivers’ sobriety and working hours, as well as whether they have the required documents. They also inspect the vehicle’s technical condition and mandatory equipment, and check the number of passengers being carried (whether it complies with the entry in the vehicle registration certificate).

Drivers whose vehicles raise no concerns during an inspection are given vehicle stickers promoting the “Safe Bus” e-service. It was launched by MSW so that travelers could check basic information about buses and other vehicles designed to carry passengers online.

To do so, go to the website www.bezpiecznyautobus.gov.pl, where entering the vehicle’s registration number provides information including whether it is listed in the database as deregistered or, for example, stolen.

With MSW’s free “Safe Bus” service, we can check:

  • whether the bus has valid compulsory third-party liability insurance
  • whether it has a valid mandatory technical inspection
  • technical data, such as the permitted number of seats and the vehicle’s weight
  • whether the vehicle is not currently marked in the database as deregistered, withdrawn from traffic or stolen.

Remember that a bus without a valid technical inspection and third-party liability insurance should not be driven on the road. A bus must not be overloaded either. If the vehicle’s technical condition or the driver’s condition still raises doubts, you should ask the police or the Road Transport Inspection to carry out an inspection.
