Water in Bolesławiec has recently been discussed extensively, mainly in connection with the planned municipalisation of the Przedsiębiorstwo Wodociągów i Kanalizacji. There was speculation about what prices water would reach if municipalisation did not take place, with emphasis on the fact that water in Bolesławiec is already one of the most expensive. The truth can easily be established by comparing the data below.
In cities where water and sewage companies are municipal, water prices are higher than in Bolesławiec. However, it is difficult to say whether this is a result of the owner being the local government.
In Bolesławiec, we pay PLN 1.93 per cubic metre of water. The price is only slightly higher in Złotoryja (PLN 1.94), while comparison with Kraków (PLN 2.47), Zgorzelec (PLN 2.59) and, above all, Legnica (PLN 2.78) clearly favours Bolesławiec.
The situation is similar with wastewater disposal costs. Residents of Bolesławiec pay PLN 2.30 per cubic metre. It is more expensive in Zgorzelec (PLN 2.73), Złotoryja (PLN 2.81) and Kraków (PLN 2.38), while the most—PLN 2.88— is paid by residents of Legnica.
