The idea of creating the award emerged in the Association for the Promotion of Lower Silesia in 1996 and has attracted considerable interest in business, local-government and cultural circles for 19 years. Year by year, the statuette is becoming an increasingly valued promotional emblem, and recipients take pride in receiving it.

The “Lower Silesian Keys to Success” are awarded by a Chapter selected from among people enjoying recognition and authority in Lower Silesia.

Since the first edition, the award’s Chapter has followed several principles, including recognizing and rewarding the achievements of people, companies and institutions operating in areas distant from major centers; promoting achievements that are less well known; and emphasizing candidates’ ability to cooperate with local authorities and non-governmental organizations.

The “Lower Silesian Key to Success” is awarded in the following categories: the most outstanding personality in promoting the region; the Lower Silesian company that cooperates best with the local community and non-governmental organizations; the most enterprising rural municipality and urban or urban-rural municipality; the best Lower Silesian non-governmental organization; the best cultural institution or cultural initiative; the best school, institution or educational initiative; and the best sports club, sports and recreation center, tourism venture or organizer of mass recreational events.

During the final gala, held in Zgorzelec in June, the award recipients were announced. This year, Rudna Municipality was among the nominees in the category of the most enterprising rural municipality. The Chapter considered, among other things, the municipality’s economic growth, financial condition, initiatives aimed at promoting Lower Silesia, the scale of investments and the authorities’ success in obtaining external funding.

The award in this category went to Czarny Bór Municipality; however, the nomination itself is already a major distinction and honor. A Nominee diploma for 2014 in the category of the most enterprising rural municipality was presented to the head of Rudna Municipality.
