On June 30, at approximately 6:55 a.m., the duty officer of the Jelenia Góra police received information about a traffic collision that occurred at Kościelny Square in Bukowiec. The person reporting the incident told the officers that the driver of a BMW had hit a building, abandoned the car and fled with a female passenger.
It turned out that the fugitives had hidden... in nearby bushes. They were detained.
The driver was drunk; a test showed 1.6 per mille of alcohol in his blood. What is more, the man did not want to provide his details, lied and tried to mislead the officers. Nevertheless, the police established that he was a 32-year-old resident of Kowary. The passenger turned out to be a 29-year-old resident of one of the towns near Kowary. She was also drunk.
The 32-year-old was aggressive during his detention, did not respond to the officers’ commands and pushed one of them.
The man was taken to police custody. He faces up to three years in prison.
