Thanks to cooperation with the Jelenia Góra City Office, young people from across the city and surrounding areas were able to set up tents promoting World Youth Day 2016 and encourage residents to dance together.
The event began during the Hour of Mercy, at 3:00 p.m., when the 2016 World Youth Day anthem, “Blessed Are the Merciful,” rang out in Jelenia Góra’s market square. A choreography was created for the anthem in the Diocese of Legnica and performed by young people.
The end of the school year was a good opportunity for young people passing through the city centre to stop and learn about the idea behind World Youth Day and how they could become involved. Right from the start, the deputy mayor of the City of Jerzy Łużniak expressed his joy and willingness to cooperate, encouraging everyone to help create this major event, World Youth Day.
Each interested person received a leaflet with information about hosting pilgrims in their home, could purchase World Youth Day merchandise and obtain detailed information about volunteering.
