Among the competitors were players who train daily at BTS Elektros Bolesławiec: cadets, juniors and seniors, as well as amateurs who wanted to spend Saturday actively. One pair came to the tournament from Lubin.
With sunshine breaking through the clouds and occasional rain showers, the players battled on two courts on Spacerowa Street. The matches featured long rallies, powerful attacks and typically technical plays. The tournament was played using the Brazilian system, meaning that after a first defeat, a team had one more chance to advance to the next round from the other side of the so-called bracket.
The tournament was organized under the slogan “Live actively and healthily” to mark the summer opening of MOSIR facilities: the Summer Pools and the Summer Beach Sports Centre, located on the site of the Bolesławiec ice rink.
The competition was won by BTS Elektros Bolesławiec players: Tomasz Włoszczyński and Mateusz Świerzewski. In the hard-fought final, they defeated the highly promising volleyball players from BTS’s junior team: Piotrka Filistyńskiego and Przemka Mszala.
Third place went to Piotr Kozłowski (known to volleyball fans from the days of second-league “Jadmar”) and Maciej Jaroni, who formerly played for KKS Ren-But Złotoryja. Fourth place also went to talented young BTS players: Maciej Wilk and Kamil Kucharski.
