The young actors handled the multi-layered and precisely constructed stage fiction well. Although the subject was difficult, as “Death” is about fears, phobias and the loss of identity. The title character, a good-natured and naïve man lost in metaphysical darkness and blindly searching for the meaning of life, was played by the likeable Sebastian Mihaljev. He deserves great applause, because the role was a serious one, especially for a young acting student.
Congratulations are also due to the other actors. The following performed brilliantly: Patrycja Boluk, Julia Cysewska, Karolina Domańska, Natalia Ferlewicz, Adrianna Gabrych, Kasia Jakieła, Dominika Klecha, Kornela Kozioł, Agata Kubica, Filip Lickiewicz, Nicola Potoczna, Eliza Siudak, Kamila Stachów, Magdalena Szoka and Karolina Zdunek.
Sławomir Mrożek’s play “Serenade” is an ostensibly banal story about longing for a better world, curiosity about the unknown and the desire to touch the forbidden fruit. It is a story about two radically different male worlds and three radically different female worlds, about the very human intermingling of good and evil, the desire for love, jealousy and seduction.
Sketching the five characters of Mrożek’s “Serenade” in bold, broad strokes, the creators of the performance do not try to impose an interpretation of this one-act play on the audience. They show characters, attitudes and behaviour, leaving their interpretation and assessment to those who choose to meet them. They assume that beneath the crime-comedy layer lie as many meanings as there are spectators at the performance. Appearing before the audience are: Lila Wasiel as Blond, Jolanta Koźmin as Bruna, Łucja Mielczarek as Ruda, Marek Pietraszkiewicz as Rooster and Daniel Popieliński as Fox. Prompter – Edyta Sczesna.
The set design for both performances was prepared by Waldemar Cieślak; the musical arrangement and sound were handled by Paweł Gnyszka, and the lighting by Leszek Rzepka.
