The musicians and the gathered audience were welcomed by the host, parish priest and dean, Fr. Andrzej Jarosiewicz. Under the baton of Dalibor Kośtutić, the orchestra performed a rich selection of works, ranging from church hymns and the classical music of A. Vivaldi, F. Mendelssohn and J.S. Bach-Gounod to popular music and pieces such as Memory, Amazing Grace, and a medley of Christmas and New Year songs.

An interesting feature of Sunday’s concert was the performance of one of the favourite Polish and Croatian church songs, “Barka”, sung in his native language by the orchestra’s conductor. The audience eagerly joined in, creating musical unity, while the lyrics of the song resounded in both languages.

The Puhaćki Orkestar Brass Band DVD Valpovo has 42 musicians and is one of the oldest municipal brass bands in Croatia. In Bolesławiec, the group performed with 29 musicians, and the concert in the Basilica was their second performance during this year’s celebrations of the Days of Bolesławiec.
