Maks Brandt, a student at Primary School No. 4 in Bolesławiec, took fifth place in the CM category at the 20th International French Championships in Mathematical and Logic Games in Paris. The championships took place on August 25 and 26.

Maks had been working toward his international success since October 2005. To travel to Paris, he had to successfully complete three national stages of the competition: the correspondence-based first stage, the semifinal on March 18, and the two-day final of the 4th Polish Championships in Mathematical and Logic Games, held on May 20 and 21 in Wrocław. As one of the three best finalists in his category, Maks was able to represent the country in the final in Paris. In addition to studying, there was also some time for relaxation and sightseeing.

Mathematical and Logic Games is a competition intended for people interested in mathematics, various riddles and puzzles. It is open to primary school students, middle school students, high school students, university students and adults. When assessing the tasks, the jury considers not only the number of correctly and completely solved tasks, but also the time taken to solve them.
