Swimming for infants involves exercises that help them become accustomed to the aquatic environment, gymnastics, and developing desirable habits aimed at improving the child’s safety in the water. Organised aquatic activities for infants and younger children develop their personalities and social skills through being in a group of peers.
During the activities, muscle fibres located directly beneath the skin are intensely stimulated by the parent’s touch and by the water (the water flows around the entire body and creates resistance). This produces a relaxing effect and regulates muscle tension. In addition, exercises in the water improve the sense of balance and activate the circulatory and respiratory systems. Such sessions are a great idea for active leisure time with your child.
