– Among hundreds of applications, Teatr Avatar was selected as one of 26 finalists, becoming part of the high-profile “Bridges” project in Wrocław,” says Olga Pirecka. “Thanks to the support of Legnickie Centrum Kultury and the Municipal Office, the results of their work, presented under the title “Via Regia,” will also be seen by audiences in Legnica.
Via Regia, meaning the Royal Road, which connected eastern and western Europe, shaped economic and cultural developments for centuries. On the night of June 18, in the Municipal Park near the bandstand, it will be recreated in a new artistic context. The many meanings of the road will be revealed through the finesse of the movement of the human body, fire and light. The artists from Teatr Avatar announce fabulous scenes illuminated by ultraviolet light, energetic fire dancing and acrobatic elements harmonizing with a beautiful, melodic backdrop.
“Bridges” is one of the most important projects preparing the capital of Lower Silesia to assume the title of European Capital of Culture. For one day, June 20, Wrocław’s bridges will be transformed into artistic creations according to the visions of young participants, artists and amateurs. In Wrocław, Teatr Avatar will perform on the footbridge near plac Orląt Lwowskich, located close to Dworzec Świebodzki.
