The competition took place on June 9, 2015, in Wrocław. The authors of this success were the students: Martyna Kowalska (class 3b), Paweł Wielogórski (class 1b), and Marta Nowacka (class 2e). The students were prepared for the competition by Alicja Gabrek, a physical education and safety education teacher.

The students brought distinction to the school by defeating 79 schools from the Lower Silesian Voivodeship. They had to demonstrate theoretical, practical, and physical fitness skills. They presented their abilities at a high level in first aid, general prevention, knowledge of fire safety regulations, civil defense, and cycling.

Marta Nowacka:

It was a great experience. The most stressful part turned out to be waiting for the results. However, the organizers made the wait more pleasant with refreshments and an interesting orchestra performance, which helped us calm our emotions. The safety education teacher, Ms. Alicja Gabrek, who prepared us for the competition, proved to be an excellent mentor. She did not put pressure on us, and this contributed greatly to our victory. We won wonderful prizes, including an educational aid for the school—an AED, or automated external defibrillator. In conclusion, it must be said that it is worth learning how to help others not only to win prizes, but above all to provide assistance and even save someone’s life.

The aim of the initiative was to build social attitudes opposed to aggression and promoting behavior that protects the life and health of every person, at all times and in every place, with particular emphasis on road safety. The skills demonstrated by all participants will certainly foster appropriate attitudes among young people in the future with regard to safety and providing first aid.
