Construction work has begun on a pavement along a section of voivodeship road no. 357 in Nowogrodziec, on Strzelecka and Kaolinowa streets. The contract with the contractor, the Produkcyjno-Usługowo-Handlowa „Roberto” company from Zgorzelec, was signed on 30 April 2015.

The project provides for the construction of a 1.5 m-wide concrete-paving-stone pavement along a total length of 1.05 km. The pavement was designed on one side of the road; the project also includes supplementing the vertical signage and horizontal markings with a new pedestrian crossing near the intersection with internal road no. 222.

The scope of the project also includes installing pedestrian safety barriers made of steel pipes and constructing a pavement drainage system by installing a concrete-paving-stone gutter along the kerb and linear drainage channels directing rainwater towards the slopes.

The project is scheduled for completion on 2 October 2015. However, conflicts with underground technical infrastructure networks may occur at the construction site, including electricity, gas, water-supply and sanitary-sewer networks, which may cause a slight delay in opening the pavement for use.

The project is valued at PLN 367,700, while the indirect costs of investor and archaeological supervision amount to PLN 7,200.

Under an agreement with the Lower Silesian Voivodeship dated 16 May 2014, Gmina Nowogrodziec will receive a targeted grant covering 50% of the total project costs.

“The project is intended to improve pedestrian safety along voivodeship road no. 357 within the town,” Nowogrodziec officials explain. “It is a response to residents’ requests to construct a pavement in this area. This autumn, residents of Nowogrodziec will therefore be able to enjoy the new pavement they have been waiting for so long.
