As established before the District Court in Jelenia Góra, two other criminal proceedings were being conducted against Katarzyna H.. The date of a hearing in one of them was set for 13 August 2014 at 12:00.
At 12:51 p.m., Katarzyna H. telephoned the duty officer of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Jelenia Góra, informing him that there was a bomb on the premises of the District Court. After one minute, the defendant called again.
Police and emergency services took action to prevent the threat. Police officers searched the court building. However, there was no danger.
Katarzyna H. again telephoned the duty officer of the Municipal Police Headquarters on 12 November 2014, informing him that an explosive device had been placed in the court building. She called at 10:37, 10:58 and 10:59 a.m.
For that day, the court… had set hearing dates in the criminal proceedings pending against H. The defendant did not attend them, even though she knew the dates.
As on the first occasion, emergency services were called to the scene. They evacuated the court building and then searched it. Bomb-disposal experts found no threats.
During the investigation, the telephone numbers from which the calls to the duty officer of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Jelenia Góra had been made were established. An expert in forensic voice analysis was also appointed. After analysing the recordings and comparison material collected from the suspected perpetrators, the expert unequivocally stated that Katarzyna H. was the person who reported that a bomb had been placed in the District Court building in Jelenia Góra in both cases.
When questioned as a suspect, H. did not respond to the charges presented to her and refused to give explanations.
Katarzyna H. had previously been convicted. She is currently serving a prison sentence imposed in another case. The offences alleged in these proceedings carry a penalty of up to 8 years’ imprisonment.
