At the end of May, primary schools received the results of the test taken by sixth-grade students throughout Poland. This year, for the first time, the test consisted of two parts. The first part contained tasks in Polish and mathematics, while the second part contained tasks in a modern foreign language. The average result for students and schools was given as a percentage of the maximum number of points the students could achieve.

In Bolesławiec municipality, the average result of students from all schools in the first part (testing Polish and mathematics skills) was higher than the average result in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship. The highest average scores were achieved by students of the Primary School in Kruszyn – 75.1%, the Primary School in Trzebień – 70.0%, the Primary School in Brzeźnik – 69.4%, the Primary School in Żeliszów – 68.4%, and the Primary School in Dąbrowa Bolesławiecka – 67.0%. In contrast, significantly lower average results than in the voivodeship were recorded by students from schools in Kraśnik Dolny – 61.0%, Ocice – 60.6%, and Bożejowice – 57.8%.

The students performed better on Polish-language tasks than on mathematics tasks. The highest Polish-language scores were achieved by students from the schools in Brzeźnik and Kruszyn – 77.9% – and in Żeliszów – 75.1%. Heartfelt congratulations therefore go to the Polish-language teachers – Danuta Sicińska-Burzawa (Primary School in Brzeźnik), Małgorzata Hlastawa-Wojtowicz (School and Kindergarten Complex in Kruszyn), and Grażyna Ott (Primary School in Żeliszów).

The highest mathematics scores were as follows: students of the Primary School in Kruszyn – 71.9%, the Primary School in Trzebień – 67.3%, the Primary School in Żeliszów – 61.1%, and the Primary School in Brzeźnik – 60.5%.

Special words of recognition go to the following mathematics teachers – Klaudia Medyńska from the School and Kindergarten Complex in Kruszyn, Danuta Płocharczyk-Pryka from the School and Kindergarten Complex in Trzebień, Agnieszka Kamińska from the Primary School in Żeliszów, and Joanna Kolsa from the Primary School in Brzeźnik.

In the second part of the test, students had to demonstrate their skills in using a modern foreign language; in Bolesławiec municipality, this was primarily German. The highest scores in this part of the examination were achieved by students from the schools in Brzeźnik – 76.5% (teacher – Iga Mularska), Trzebień – 75.3% (teacher – Jolanta Jung), Kruszyn – 73.1% (teacher – Ewa Śliwińska), and Żeliszów – 71.1% (teacher – Karolina Zdrowowicz).

In summary, the vast majority of students attending primary schools in Bolesławiec municipality are very well prepared to continue their education at the next stage, namely in lower-secondary school.

I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to the teachers for their efforts, often made at the expense of their free time. I know, however, that the students’ success is the best reward, bringing joy and satisfaction from the work they do.
