The Miejski Klub Sportowy Bobrzanie and the Miejski Ośrodek Sportu i Rekreacji organized the international “Farewell to Summer” football tournament for the Mayor’s Cup. The tournament was held last Saturday on the pitches of the Water and Sports Centre on Spacerowa Street. The tournament was won by the Górnik/Zagłębie Wałbrzych team. FSV Budissa Bautzen took second place (a German club and a friend of Bobrzanie). The next places went to Miedź Legnica, Górnik Polkowice, Chrobry Nowogrodziec, Górnik Polkowice II, Bobrzanie Bolesławiec and Olsza Olszyna Lubańska.

The hosts, the MKS Bobrzanie Bolesławiec team, ultimately finished seventh, defeating Olsza Olszyna Lubańska in the play-off match. Children of various ages played for the Bolesławiec team, from the oldest born in 1995 to the youngest born in 2000. In total, our team fielded 13 players: Kamil Grzesiak, Tobiasz Lehmann, Rafał Mrozik (captain), Kamil Korczowski, Marcin Paleń, Bartek Wieczorek, Daniel and Olek Hyjek, Filip and Kornel Piotrowski, Wojtek Kulik, Kamil Parzyszek and Maciek Szewc. The team’s coach is Michał Banaś.

The matches were played on two pitches. The teams consisted of six outfield players and a goalkeeper. Each match lasted 2x8 minutes, with the teams changing ends and no break. The players used a size 4 ball and followed the other rules set out in the regulations for youth competitions in the “orlik” category. The tournament was jointly organized by MKS Bobrzanie and MOSiR. The tournament coordinators were MOSiR director Dariusz Jośko; MKS Bobrzanie Bolesławiec president and vice-president Henryk Szewc and Damian Sawczak; and Dariusz Wojtowicz, a representative of the OZPN Jelenia Góra Training Department.
