Officers from the Traffic Department of the Lubin police headquarters stopped the driver of a Porsche for inspection. On a section of national road no. 3 where the speed limit is 70 km/h, he was driving at 101 km/h.
As it turned out, this was not the only offence committed by the 36-year-old resident of the Silesian Voivodeship. The officers established that, by decision of the starosta, his driving privileges had been revoked. Moreover, the car he was driving was not authorised for road use, and the driver himself did not have third-party liability insurance.
Until 18 May, driving a vehicle despite having one’s driving privileges revoked by the starosta was a misdemeanour. Now it is a crime. The 36-year-old faces up to two years in prison.
