At a press conference, starosta Dariusz Kwaśniewski and Chairman of the County Council Karol Stasik spoke about which events during A Week with the County deserve special attention.
“I would like to invite entrepreneurs from our county to a conference on opportunities for obtaining EU funds. It will take place on 27 May at 12:00 at the new County Office headquarters,” said Karol Stasik. “And I invite all residents to the ceremonial session of the Bolesławiec County Council, which will take place on Thursday at 8:30 at the Old Theatre. We want to show county residents the procedures for adopting local law. On that day, it will be possible to learn how councillors work, what they do and how they make decisions.
During this Council session, the county authorities will honour distinguished municipal-government officials by presenting them with statuettes marking the 25th anniversary of territorial self-government.
“A Week with the County will last more than seven days—that is already our tradition,” said Dariusz Kwaśniewski. “I warmly invite everyone who runs or enjoys exercise and recreation to the 4th RUNdka with the County.
“The most important thing, however,” the starosta continued, “is that we present the county through its residents and local associations. Above all, we are proud of the residents, not the officials. The county is not only Bolesławiec; it comprises 82 localities. On Friday, 29 May, a training session will be held entitled ‘Thematic villages as a tool for stimulating local development, entrepreneurship and local activity’. We will invite all active rural residents: village councils and village heads, representatives of rural homemakers’ circles and associations. Thematic villages are an extremely interesting idea intended to encourage local communities to take action. After all, fewer and fewer people in small localities make their living from work in the countryside.
The III rOwerOwa RUNdka with the County, taking place on Saturday, 30 May, will serve as a kind of finale to the county celebrations; the following day there will be Moto Show. Wednesday, 27 May, will be an open day at the new County headquarters (Armii Krajowej Street in Bolesławiec). “Visitors will be able to see that our County Office is functional, welcoming and beautiful,” the starosta added.
