Officers from the Traffic Division of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Jelenia Góra stopped two men, aged 57 and 24, who, under the new regulations, lost their driving licences for three months for driving at excessive speed in a built-up area and, consequently, creating a hazard in road traffic.

The officers stopped the first of them on 18 May this year, at around 8:10 p.m., on Konstytucji 3 Maja Street in Jelenia Góra. The officers noticed a Ford Focus travelling at high speed. The speed meter showed that, before a pedestrian crossing, the driver was speeding at 102 km/h in a place where the speed limit is 50 km/h.

The driver turned out to be a 57-year-old resident of Wrocław. The officers confiscated his driving licence for three months. In addition, they fined him PLN 500 and imposed 10 penalty points.

The officers stopped the 24-year-old on 19 May this year, at 8:55 a.m., on Wolności Street in Jelenia Góra. He exceeded the permitted speed by 58 km/h. He lost his driving licence, received a PLN 400 fine and 10 penalty points.
