A 54-year-old resident of Jawor County fell into the hands of officers from Kruszyn. He was detained during a routine traffic check in one of the localities in Warta Bolesławiecka municipality. In the 54-year-old’s car, police officers found sacks of illegal tobacco.
As it turned out, the man was transporting as much as 18.5 kg of tobacco. The losses that the State Treasury could have incurred if the illegal goods had reached the market were estimated at nearly PLN 14,000.
The officers are currently clarifying all the circumstances of the case, including where the tobacco came from. The detained 54-year-old could face up to three years in prison and a hefty fine.
