The Municipality of Legnica, Koleje Dolnośląskie SA and the Municipal Transport Company concluded an agreement on 6 May introducing the “Legnica integrated ticket” for passengers while also promoting urban and rail public transport.

Representing the parties to the agreement: Jadwiga Zienkiewicz, Deputy Mayor of Legnica, Piotr Rachwalski, President of the Management Board of Koleje Dolnośląskie, and Zdzisław Bakinowski, President of the Management Board of MPK in Legnica, presented the new project at a press conference on 12 May.

The introduction of the integrated ticket is in the final preparation phase: an easily accessible monthly ticket covering journeys on Koleje Dolnośląskie trains and MPK Legnica buses. The offer will enable travel on modern, comfortable trains and low-floor city buses.

The tickets will be financially advantageous. Their price will be approximately 20 percent lower than the cost of two tickets purchased separately. Passengers will receive the rail component at a lower price, while within Legnica they will be able to travel on all MPK routes for the price of a named monthly ticket for a single line. Instead of paying PLN 100 per month, they will pay only PLN 76. The project partners estimate that over one year, passengers using Legnica’s urban transport and Koleje Dolnośląskie will be able to save approximately PLN 1,000. The “Legnica integrated ticket” will be available for purchase at ticket offices at the stations in Legnica and Wrocław.

“Our project is also open to other cities and carriers. For it to become a reality, Mayor Tadeusz Krzakowski will submit a draft of the relevant resolution to the City Council at the May session. We trust that the council will adopt it, in which case the integrated ticket could be introduced by July at the latest,” said Jadwiga Zienkiewicz.

Piotr Rachwalski, President of Koleje Dolnośląskie, emphasized that his company has been associated with Legnica from the very beginning. Its headquarters are located here. He added that the process of integrating the passenger offer follows the best model in the world: the Swiss one. In that country, a single ticket has been valid for all public transport since 1898.
