Children’s workshops related to the “Włocławek Faience” exhibition. For the Night of Museums, a temporary exhibition entitled “Włocławek Faience” has been prepared in the Ceramics Department at Mickiewicza Street. The exhibition presents approximately 200 of the finest vessels in various forms, decorated with characteristic floral designs, made in the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s.

  • 4:00–8:00 p.m. – children’s workshops. Under an instructor’s guidance, participants will be able to make floral decorations by hand on prepared paper forms. Children will be able to create designs using both paints and ready-made stickers. The workshops will be inspired by the tableware, vases, amphorae, candlesticks, containers and decorative wall plates presented in the exhibition, decorated with characteristic Kujawy flowers in cobalt, and less commonly brown and green.

Włocławek products were initially decorated using tracing paper and overpainting. Later, a characteristic decoration in the form of small bouquets of flowers was developed and applied with a brush. The 1930s were dominated by spray decoration using a stencil, as well as decoration applied with tracing paper. In the 1950s, the floral ornamental decoration typical of Włocławek faience emerged; it was used until the 1980s. During the workshops organized as part of the Night of Museums, participants will be able to try their hand at creating their own artistic compositions inspired by Włocławek designs.
We warmly invite you to join in the fun!
