On Saturday, German communists appeared in Bolesławiec. The Germans visited the cemetery of Soviet soldiers on II Armii Wojska Polskiego Street. They then went to the city center, where they organized an anti-war, anti-fascist and anti-capitalist happening. The visitors from the west arrived in several cars. The German communists could not enter the Market Square, so they walked along Mickiewicza and Sierpnia '80 streets, then stopped in front of the Bolesławiec BCC gallery. They handed passers-by leaflets with information about their action.
The organizers of the action believe that another world war is increasingly clearly threatening us. In their view, it will be unleashed by the imperialists holding power in the world. In Bolesławiec, the response to the slogan “Proletarians of all countries, unite!” was modest, and the dozen or so demonstrators were accompanied by only a small number of spectators.
The stay of the communists from Germany in Bolesławiec is part of the International Anti-War Action. The Germans will also visit, among other places, Legnica, Wrocław, Opole, Częstochowa, Chorzów, Łódź and Warsaw.
They write about the action in their declaration:
“We are, like you, workers, employees and, like some of you, revolutionary youth (…). We have undertaken a joint struggle against the danger of war, which may arise on German soil. The great German corporations and banks threaten the lives of us and our children. After two lost world wars, they are preparing another one. Workers of the FRG and the incorporated GDR, reach for the sign of workers’ unity from Poland and the Czech Republic. Your exploiters and oppressors, banks and corporations, are already running rampant in Poland, the Czech Republic and other countries. The more they gain, the worse things go for you.(…).”
