The concerts of Jozsef Lendvay have already captivated the whole world. Now it is Zgorzelec’s turn. The brilliant violinist will perform on 15 May at 7:00 p.m. at the Meetingpoint Music Messiaen European Educational and Cultural Centre Zgorzelec-Görlitz (Koźlice 1, Zgorzelec—the site of the former Stalag VIII A prisoner-of-war camp).
The artist will present the audience with the finest works by composers including B. Bartok, C. Franck, E. Ysaye, C. Debussy, M. Magin, J. Williams, M. Ravel and S. Prokofiev. He will be accompanied by his longtime friends and outstanding instrumentalists: Gracjan Szymczak on piano and Małgorzata Lendvay on violin.
Jozsef Lendvay plays a violin made by the all-time great luthier Antonio Stradivari, the “Ex Ries” from 1693. This concert will therefore be a unique opportunity to experience the sound of one of the world’s most valuable instruments.
Jozsef Lendvay is one of the most highly regarded violin virtuosos in the world. He has performed for such figures as Pope John Paul II, Mikhail Gorbachev, Angela Merkel, Helmut Kohl and George Bush Sr. His music has enhanced numerous festivals, including the Feldkirch Festival, Schleswig-Holstein Festival, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival, Summer Nights Festival and Mersin Music Festival. Jozsef Lendvay is also a two-time recipient of the prestigious “Echo Muskpreis” award—in 2005 for the album “Lendvay” and in 2014 for the album “Dancing Paris” with the Alliage Quintett.
Jozsef Lendvay’s concerts are pure virtuosity, which, combined with immense musicality, ensures that every piece remains in listeners’ memories for a long time. The event is presented by Echomusic Art Managment in cooperation with the Meetingpoint Music Messiaen association from Görlitz. The concert’s partners are the Hungarian Cultural Institute in Warsaw and the National Cultural Fund of Hungary.
