On 27 April, from 5:00 to 9:00 in the morning, Bolesławiec police officers conducted intensified preventive and control activities aimed at improving road safety. As part of the operation, officers primarily checked drivers’ sobriety and also paid attention to traffic violations.
At various locations throughout Bolesławiec County, officers primarily checked drivers’ sobriety and also paid attention to traffic violations and the way children were transported. As a result of nearly 180 sobriety checks, police detained as many as 4 drivers who got behind the wheel despite having previously consumed alcohol.
The most serious case involved a resident of Nowogrodziec who drove a vehicle that was not permitted for road use while intoxicated, without holding a driving licence. On 1 April 2015, the 46-year-old’s two-year court-imposed driving ban expired. The man had previously, between 2004 and 2007, also been subject to a court-imposed driving ban. Both court decisions were related to driving while intoxicated.
The man will now face court proceedings for his actions. Driving a vehicle while intoxicated may carry a sentence of up to 5 years in prison, as he had previously been finally convicted of the same offence.
