A group of around 80 people, consisting of participants in the BOK-MCC contemporary dance studio’s classes, together with their friends and families, presented a 10-minute dance routine prepared especially for the upcoming International Dance Day.

What is a “flash mob”? It is a term commonly used to describe an artificial crowd of people gathering unexpectedly in a public place to carry out a brief event, usually surprising to accidental witnesses.

People who do not know one another but know only the date and planned activity take part in the event—as one can read about this artistic phenomenon on Wikipedia. The Bolesławiec flash mob, however, was not a random crowd.

At around 1:30 p.m., participants in the contemporary dance studio classes led by Halina Bałacka-Kłak met in the Market Square, together with friends and family members invited to join in the fun. The large group of around 80 people performed a dance routine involving participants aged from 7 to 77. Among the truly large group of random spectators watching the flash mob, nothing but superlatives could be heard about the dancers. The weather was favorable, attendance was high, many people were completely surprised, and most importantly, smiles remained on everyone’s faces long after the performance ended. Congratulations on the idea—we look forward to more events of this kind.
