The Lumen Sacred Music Ensemble from Poznań, the Madrygał choir of Legnickie Centrum Kultury, the Skoranta choir from Chojnów, a children’s group from the Zespół Szkół Muzycznych in Legnica, the choir of II LO in Legnica and the Legnicka Orkiestra Symfoniczna—the combined forces of all these ensembles—will perform “Pop Oratorio: Divine Mercy” this coming Sunday. They will be accompanied by the soloists: Janusz Szrom (vocals), Marzena Małkowicz (vocals, narration) and Julia Stolpe (vocals). The entire performance will be conducted by Benedykt Ksiądzyna.
The concert will take place on April 19, 2015, at the Church of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus (Piekary) in Legnica. It begins at 6:00 p.m.; admission is free.
“Pop Oratorio” was composed by Zbigniew Małkowicz, to the words of Saint Faustina. “I included musical elements from different parts of the world in the work to emphasize that divine mercy is intended for everyone, regardless of origin,” says Zbigniew Małkowicz. “This form reaches the hearts of believers and non-believers, young and old, humble and rebellious—everyone.”
