Officers from the Cybercrime Department of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław, together with officers from the Department for Combating Economic Crime of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Jelenia Góra, shut down a wholesale warehouse selling cosmetics with counterfeit trademarks of reputable companies. The police arrested a 31-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman. Both are suspected of introducing counterfeit perfumes into circulation.

The officers established that the suspects were conducting wholesale sales of perfumes with counterfeit trademarks. They claimed that the products were genuine. The trade was conducted through various online portals and auction websites.

The police secured 10,000 packages of counterfeit perfumes in various sizes. Their total value was at least 100,000 zlotys. The losses incurred by the affected companies were initially estimated at... approximately 1.5 million zlotys.

The man was arrested in a car parked in the parking lot of one of Jelenia Góra’s discount grocery stores. In the vehicle, police officers found boxes of perfumes bearing counterfeit trademarks (approximately 2,000 packages).

The officers arrested his female accomplice at her apartment, where they secured more counterfeit perfumes and items used in the criminal operation, including computers, mobile phones and documentation.

The police also located rented storage premises where the largest batch of counterfeit cosmetics was found.

The arrested suspects were taken into police custody. They may face up to five years in prison.
