The application concerned the enrolment of second-grade children from Bolesławiec schools—318 children (implementation from February to June 2015). We were granted the implementation of the program for 13 groups of 15 people each, meaning that 195 children qualified for the “I Can Swim 2015” program. In this way, we obtained financial support amounting to PLN 29,250. The children began swimming lessons in February as part of the program. The significant reduction in the number of children accepted into the program results from the very high interest among municipalities in this program in Lower Silesia.

In the summer, we will await the decision concerning the implementation of the “I Can Swim” program from September to December 2015. For this stage, Bolesławiec City Municipality applied for swimming lessons for 501 children (currently first-grade classes).

In 2014, the “I Can Swim” program was aimed at children in the third grades of primary schools in our city. As part of the program, 524 children took up swimming lessons. For this purpose, we managed to obtain PLN 78,600 in funding from the Marshal’s Office through the Lower Silesian Sports Federation.

The idea behind the “MultiSport” project is to organise and conduct regular, free extracurricular and out-of-school activities for children and young people in grades 4–6 of primary schools. The activities are conducted in diverse, modern and attractive forms, stimulating participants’ physical activity.

Bolesławiec City Municipality submitted an application to organise six groups of 20 participants. By decision of the Marshal’s Office and the Lower Silesian Sports Federation, two groups were granted. Primary Schools No. 4 and No. 5 were selected to implement the “Multisport 2015” program. Classes for 40 children from Bolesławiec are conducted by Marta Górska (Primary School No. 4) and Dariusz Adamczyk (Primary School No. 5).

Organisational framework—activities in 3 blocks

  • Block 1. Activities covering the methodological foundations of promoting athletics, gymnastics and martial arts, among others, as exercises developing basic motor skills: strength, speed, agility, flexibility and endurance
  • Block 2. Movement games and activities, as well as team sports, including football, handball, volleyball, basketball and floorball
  • Block 3. Sports characteristic of the region, with local traditions, as well as seasonal sports.

The organiser planned to establish 100 groups for the implementation of the program. A total of 84 municipalities applied. A municipality participating in the program undertakes to provide sports facilities free of charge for the activities, while the Ministry of Sport and Tourism together with the Marshal’s Office of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship pays the instructor and provides sports equipment. The total value of the funding obtained is just under PLN 20,000 (for two groups).
