The incident occurred on Easter Monday, after 6:00 p.m. The emergency medical dispatcher received a report about a man needing help on one of the stairwells in Lubin. A medical team was sent to the scene. The paramedics took care of the person in need.
While they were providing him with assistance in the ambulance, a young man approached them. At first, he tried to get inside the ambulance. The crew successfully prevented him from doing so. He then demanded that a member of his family be transported to a medical facility of his choice. The doctor informed him that only after the examinations had been carried out would he decide where the patient would be taken. This angered the man from Lubin: he began hitting the ambulance with his hands and then kicking its doors. The police were called to the scene.
The man was taken into police custody. It turned out that he was drunk, with nearly one per mille of alcohol in his system. Police determined that the vandal had damaged the ambulance’s reflective foil and bodywork.
The 24-year-old now faces up to five years in prison.
