Heavy rain did not stop BKS’s young players from training, and as a reward they got to meet an extraordinary guest. Eryk Sobków is a BKS academy graduate. At the age of 12, he joined the Miedź Legnica football academy and from there, despite offers from the Legia Warszawa and Śląsk Wrocław academies, moved to Zagłębie Lubin. Thanks to his hard work, our academy graduate became a first-team Zagłębie Lubin player this season and also took part in a Poland U-18 national team camp. At the Riga Cup tournament held last weekend, Eryk scored for the White and Reds in the match against Ukraine.
Eryk Sobków can serve as an example for BKS’s young footballers. During Monday’s meeting with our Orlik players, he stressed the importance of commitment to training and perseverance in pursuing a goal as the basis for achieving success in football. The BKS academy graduate also pointed out that anyone who wants to improve their skills must apply themselves to every exercise and, above all, follow the coach’s instructions.
Eryk himself does not become complacent and realizes that if he wants to climb higher, he still has a great deal of work ahead of him. Despite the undeniable success he has achieved so far, he remains a modest young man, just as coach Szapiel remembers him. Eryk’s nearest football goals are to become a permanent fixture in Zagłębie Lubin’s starting eleven and return to the Ekstraklasa with the team.
The Monday meeting was initiated by the Orliks’ coach, Mirosław Szapiel, under whom Eryk Sobków took his first football steps. As the coach emphasizes, Eryk’s high technical ability and good fitness were already evident at a young age. The young players coached by Szapiel who attended training that day listened with interest to the comments and advice given to them by their older colleague. Everyone took commemorative photographs, and Eryk also had a gift for each of the boys in the form of Zagłębie Lubin merchandise. He also promised that at the end of the season, the best Orlik player would receive a Zagłębie Lubin shirt signed by the club’s players.
Let us hope that Eryk’s career continues to develop at the same pace as before, and that his example inspires BKS’s young players to pursue their own dreams.
