Officers remind residents that burning grass, meadows, pastures and other wastelands is prohibited. This is punishable by a fine and, if it creates a threat to the health and lives of many people and causes major material losses, also by imprisonment for up to 10 years!

Fires caused by burning grass often spread to nearby forests and buildings. They obstruct traffic and create hazards on roads, leading to collisions and accidents.
