The incident occurred on the morning of December 31, 2014, when Andrzej F., unable to come to terms with Barbara K.’s decision to end their relationship, pretended to be a parcel courier, which enabled him to deceive his way into the stairwell of one of the buildings on Noskowskiego Street. He then began striking the security door of the apartment where Barbara K. was staying with a fire axe. He also threatened to assault and kill her.
Hearing screams and strange noises, residents of neighboring apartments, Michał L. and Marcin C., came out into the stairwell. The suspect also began threatening to kill them, shouting, “I’ll kill you all, I’ll burn you.”
When the perpetrator heard that Barbara K. had called the police, he began to flee. Marcin C. and Michał L. gave chase. The men detained the suspect and then handed him over to the police. The value of the damaged door was estimated at PLN 1,500.
During the investigation, Andrzej F. was examined by psychiatric experts, who determined that he was neither mentally ill nor intellectually disabled and that he had been fully capable of understanding and controlling his actions at the time of the incident.
The District Court in Jelenia Góra ordered pretrial detention for him. F. had previously been convicted, and he committed the alleged offenses under recidivism conditions.
He faces up to five years in prison.
