The ceremony was attended by veterans from the World Association of Home Army Soldiers, the Siberians Association and the Association of War Invalids, as well as representatives of the city authorities, students and teachers.

The Memorial Hall houses memorabilia connected with our history of struggles for freedom. It contains numerous medals, banners, urns with soil from battlefields and concentration camps. One of the more valuable exhibits is the commemorative plaque unveiled today, dedicated to Home Army soldiers, dating from 1994.

“We donated the plaque to the School Memorial Hall so that it would remind people of these soldiers,” says Marian Hołownia of the World Association of Home Army Soldiers. “It is very important, not only for us, that this hall has been established.

The Siberians Association donated the Cross of Siberian Deportees and other memorabilia to the Hall. “We pass our history and experiences on to young people,” adds Wanda Puchała of the Siberians Association. “We try to shape patriotic attitudes among the students. The establishment of the Hall is an important event in the life of the school.

The school principal, Iwona Gorczyca, assured everyone on behalf of the students that they would always stand guard over our borders.
