– During heavy rainfall, it is to protect against flooding. The retention of rainwater is particularly important in this regard. When the weather is favorable, it will be an attractive place for those seeking rest and recreation – says Bolesławiec President Piotr Roman.

Finishing work is still underway on developing the area for recreational purposes. The project includes the construction of a water reservoir divided into a swimming section and plant filters – water filtered through a plant-based biosystem, without the use of chemicals.

The complex will also include technical, changing-room and sanitary, and catering facilities, pedestrian and road routes, a playground, beach volleyball courts, tennis courts, a jetty for anglers, fencing around the site, lighting, and a car park with at least 60 parking spaces.

It is worth recalling that even before the war, the reservoir was used as a recreational site. It also served as a retention reservoir collecting water from the Złoty Potok forest stream and regulating the hydrological management of the forest complex. During World War II, the facility was partially destroyed and was used by the military until the end of the 1970s.

The revitalization of the water reservoir is restoring a small-retention facility that organizes the hydrological and flood-protection situation in the city.
