During Wednesday’s session, the City Council approved terminating the employment relationship with Józef Burniak, director of the Water Supply and Sewerage Company in Bolesławiec. Twelve councillors voted in favour of approving the termination of Józef Burniak’s employment relationship, six voted against, and one councillor did not participate in the vote.
Lower Silesian Voivode Krzysztof Grzelczyk wants to dismiss Józef Burniak from his position as director of PWiK, citing “shortcomings in the operation of the company.” According to the voivode, an inspection of PWiK carried out in February revealed “negligence concerning the company’s organisational documents, as well as a violation of the Public Procurement Law.”
The PWiK Works Council and the workplace branch of “Solidarity” have a different view of the voivode’s motives. In their opinion, Krzysztof Grzelczyk’s actions have a political subtext and are being carried out arbitrarily, without any consultation with the workforce. According to PWiK employees and trade unionists, Józef Burniak manages the company well and enjoys the respect and trust of its employees.
